BOXYCHARM | Feb. ’19

Hey Lovelies!

I am officially a Boxycharm gal! I haven’t had a subscription box for while, I cancelled my Ipsy bag about 4/5 years ago after years of receiving samples I never used. Sadly, I was just accumulating clutter and mini make up bags, lol! So, one day scrolling on the gram I came across this subscription and saw they were offering FULL SIZED products for just $21.99 a month. I actually couldn’t turn away and before my debit card even knew it I was signed up and ready to go! I was so excited to receive my first box that arrives within 15 days of you signing up. With all the teasers people were posting I was Iike my 5 year old waiting to go to Sky Zone. EXCITED wasn’t even the word! The reason I am a fan of subscription boxes is because with all the hype going on nowadays in the make up work you can literally go broke trying the latest and greatest and honestly I just can’t fathom spending that much money on these products when the turn around rate is so quick. You can have the best foundation on the market and next week, BOOM! Now you don’t because the next brand just upgraded the best foundation you bought for 50 bucks last week!

Another reason why I love these subscriptions is um, hello you are getting your moneys worth and MORE. The brands Boxycharm is offering are all the hottest brands you can find in your local Ulta. I’ve seen boxes with everything from Too Faced, Tatcha, Cover FX & those are just to name a few. Quite frankly, I’ve learned my lesson through out the years that not everything works for everyone and I’d rather pay $22 a month and have it not work than full price. I also look at this as a little gift to myself every month that I get to look forward to. It’s a little something I do for me, which is a plus.

For my first box, I must say everything I received was pretty ok, not amazing.. but definitely ok.

Farmacy Clean Bee Ultra Gentle Facial Wash ($22) was my absolute favorite from the box plus I already got my moneys worth with just one product.  My face feels like a baby’s butt after using this cleanser! It is also made by all naturally derived ingredients grown on organic farms and are free os soap, PEG, alcohol, formaldehyde & artificial coloring.

Product #2 was a favorite for many. Yup, that’s right Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara ($24). Literally the holy grail for your eyelashes. This is already an everyday essential for me and I was running low so I was ecstatic to receive this in my first Boxycharm I was very, very happy to say the least. You can achieve a subtle every day look with just 1 coat or go for bold and fierce with up to 3 coats with out clumping!

#3 was Touch in Sol’s No Poreblem Primer ($18) a product I was so eager to try but it just didn’t do much for me. It wasn’t terrible but it was definitely not OMG. It had a very silicone-y feel to it. It doesn’t really blur my pores out but I can say it did hold my make up very well. It has a very clean, fresh scent but it is very minimal in case you are sensitive to smell. So yea, while I wont go out of my way if you are just starting on your make up journey I can say this is definitely a great starter primer. For those of us that have tried an amazing primer that works wonders, I’d stay away.

The last 2 products that were my least favorite were Pretty Vulgar Highlighter in Shimmer Swan ($32) & Trestique’s Prime + Glaze Lip Crayon ($25). The highlighter has good and buildable but it was just a bit light for my liking but I would NEVER pay full price for it. As for the lip crayon the primer was amazing, it was just a bit hard to get on the glaze neatly, it was just all over the place plus the shade was just not for me. I do have to say it was very weightless which is a plus.

So! All in all, my first boxes total was $121 in products with only $22 out of pocket.  I liked 3 out of the 5 products so I am still winning! When subscribing to boxes you have to have the mentality that not every product is going to be a hit for you, because everyone’s skin and liking is different.  As for me, I am definitely looking forward to March’s box!

Until next month!

Love your latest girlfriend,

Alessa
